Indoor Bench Solutions in the Kitchen

More and more you're starting to see benches as part of thoughtful, intelligent kitchen designs. Once totally out of fashion with homeowners who wanted tables and chairs instead, an indoor bench is now chic and stylish.

You'll find lots of tables being marketed in Bhiwandi furniture market with an indoor bench these days, whether it's a single bench to go along one side or two benches, one for each side. Chairs on the end are options either way to increase seating even more.

Benches have some benefits chairs can't offer. First, they can usually hold more people. Where chairs are pretty much one seat to a customer, it's not too tough to squeeze an extra person onto an indoor bench in the kitchen, especially if the extra people are children. In fact, a bench is an ideal solution for families who have a growing family and where space is at a premium.

Unlike dining chairs, benches don't necessarily have to be purchased as part of a table set. You can buy it either as an extra, or find a statement piece that has the same general style, color or embellishments as the table.

If you have a nook in the kitchen or dining area, an indoor bench can be a great idea, especially if space is at a premium. You can keep the bench tucked up against the wall, saving space while still offering guests maximum seating during a dinner party. If space is really tight, considering going with individual stools that can serve as a bench. These have the added bonus of being able to slip right under the table when not in use.

If comfort is a concern, consider putting a cushion on your bench. Some companies sell cushions already made or you can custom order them. If you're handy with fabric, you can opt to make a customized cushion yourself. Most fabric stores have poly-foam that you can use for the padding and it is pretty easy to shape.

For fabric, we highly recommend that you go with an upholstery weight fabric instead of a lighter material that will have a tendency to stretch over time, wrinkle and even rip. Upholstery fabrics can be purchased in most fabric stores and come in all the popular colors, weaves and patterns so you can easily match the other décor and fabrics in your home.

If you use your table a lot for entertaining, you may want to go with a patterned fabric for your indoor bench. This will help cover up some of the smaller stains that may happen during meal time and save you a lot of time keeping the cushion clean. Of course, you can always add some Velcro or a zipper along one seam so that you can clean your cushion cover easily in the washing machine. Just be careful that you don't accidentally dry a material in the dryer that isn't pre-shrunk. Though clean, you may find that your cover suddenly doesn't fit on the foam pad any more.

One of the great things about making a removable cover is that you can change it out seasonally. For example, during Thanksgiving you can go with an autumn color scheme and during Christmas, add a festive covering that reflects the joyous holiday season. This not only makes your pad last and look new longer, but changes up your décor for very little money.

Finally, if you put a premium on storage, consider getting a chest bench with built-in storage. These work best in a kitchen nook where the bench itself doesn't need to be moved since it can get heavy when filled. This is a great place to store your linens, seasonal kitchen décor or serving ware, holiday plates, candles and other things that you don't always need, but need nearby.
